Indications
- Invasive aspergillosis
- Candidemia (nonneutropenic) and disseminated candidiasis
- Esophageal candidiasis
- Serious infections caused by Scedosporium apiospermum and Fusarium Species
- Patients intolerant of, or refractory to other therapy
Pharmacology
- Voriconazole is a triazole antifungal medication
- Inhibits ergosterol synthesis
- Binds and inhibits CYP450-dependent 14-alpha sterol demethylase
Dosage & Administration
- Oral administration
- Tablet and powder for suspension available
- Loading dose regimen based on body weight
- Maintenance dose prescribed based on body weight
- Injection for invasive aspergillosis, candidemia, Scedosporiosis and Fusariosis
Interaction
- CYP3A4, CYP2C9 and CYP2C19 inhibitors and inducers affect dosage
- Potential drug interactions with CYP3A4, CYP2C9 and CYP2C19 substrates
- Co-administration with Phenytoin or Efavirenz alters oral and intravenous dosage
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Voriconazole or any other components
- Co-administration with specific drugs may lead to serious adverse reactions or loss of efficacy

Reconstitution
