Indications

Pharmacology
Ivermectin selectively binds to glutamate-gated chloride ion channels in invertebrate nerve and muscle cells, leading to hyperpolarization and ultimately, death of the parasite.

Interaction

Contraindications
Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the product
Side Effects
- Adverse reactions related to strongyloidiasis such as asthenia, abdominal pain, diarrhea, dizziness, etc.
- Adverse reactions related to onchocerciasis such as arthralgia, lymph node enlargement, pruritus, skin involvement, fever, etc.
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Pregnancy Category C
- Excreted in human milk in low concentrations
Precautions & Warnings
- Possibility of Mazzotti reaction in onchocerciasis patients
- Potential adverse reactions related to microfilaricidal drugs
- Special considerations for patients heavily infected with Loa loa
Use in Special Populations
- Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients weighing less than 15 kg not established
- Clinical studies did not include sufficient numbers of subjects aged 65 and over
