Zocil 50 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Reduction of symptoms of intermittent claudication
• Increased walking distance

Pharmacology

• Cilostazol is a quinolinone derivative
• Inhibition of cellular phosphodiesterase III
• Suppression of cAMP degradation
• Increase in cAMP in platelets and blood vessels
• Inhibition of platelet aggregation
• Vasodilation

Dosage & Administration

• Recommended dosage: 100 mg bid
• Timing: at least half an hour before or two hours after breakfast and dinner
• Consideration for coadministration of specific drugs
• Pediatric use not established

Interaction

• Increased systemic exposure with Omeprazole and Erythromycin
• Higher concentrations with Diltiazem coadministration

Contraindications

• Patients with congestive heart failure
• Known or suspected hypersensitivity to any components

Side Effects

• Common: headache, diarrhea, vomiting, leg cramps, rash
• Less frequent: anorexia, edema

Pregnancy & Lactation

• No adequate and well controlled studies in pregnant women
• Transfer of Cilostazol into milk reported in experimental animals
• Risk to nursing infants

Precautions & Warnings

• Caution in patients with any degree of heart failure
• No information on concurrent use with Clopidogrel
