Indications

• Relief of cough
• Relief of congestive symptoms
• Aiding restful sleep

Composition

• Guaifenesin BP 100 mg
• Levomenthol BP 1.1 mg
• Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride BP 14 mg

Pharmacology

• Guaifenesin reduces sputum viscosity
• Levomenthol has local anesthetic properties
• Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride has antitussive properties

Dosage & Administration

• Adult dosage: 2 teaspoonfuls 4 times a day
• Maximum 8 teaspoonfuls in 24 hours
• Not established for pediatric use

Interaction

• Potentiation with alcohol and CNS depressants
• Potentiation with anticholinergics
• Potential side effects

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity
• Recent MAOI treatment

• Drowsiness
• Dizziness
• Nausea and vomiting
• Gastrointestinal disturbance
• Dry mouth
• Difficulty in urination
• Blurred vision

• Care during pregnancy
• No adverse effects in human fetus or infant

Precautions & Warnings

• May cause drowsiness
• Avoid driving or operating machinery
• Avoid in narrow-angle glaucoma or symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy
• Avoid in persistent or chronic cough without physician direction

Overdose Effects

• Renal calculi in excess
• Symptomatic and supportive treatment for overdose
