Pharmacology
- Analgesic properties
- Antipyretic properties
- Weak anti-inflammatory activity

Dosage & Administration
- Tablet for adults: 1-2 tablets every 4 to 6 hours up to a maximum of 4 gm daily
- Tablet for children (6-12 years): ½ to 1 tablet 3 to 4 times daily
- Extended Release Tablet for adults & children over 12 years: Two tablets every 6 to 8 hours, maximum of 6 tablets in any 24 hours
- Syrup/Suspension for different age groups: Doses ranging from children under 3 months to adults
- Suppository for different age groups: Doses ranging from children 3-12 months to adults & children over 12 years
- Paediatric Drop for different age groups: Doses ranging from children up to 3 months to 7 to 12 years
- Special Paracetamol tablet with actizorb technology: Doses for adults and children aged 12 years and over
Interaction
- Diminished ability to metabolize large doses with barbiturates, tricyclic antidepressants, and alcohol
- Alcohol can increase hepatotoxicity of Qcet overdosage
- Chronic ingestion of certain drugs induce liver enzymes and may prevent therapeutic Qcet levels

- Known hypersensitivity to Paracetamol

- Hazard of overdose is greater in non-cirrhotic alcoholic liver disease
- Patients advised not to take other Qcet-containing products concurrently
- Only for use by the patient for whom it is prescribed
Overdose Effects
- Liver damage possible in adults who have taken 10 g or more
- Symptoms of Qcet overdose in the first 24 hours include pallor, nausea, vomiting, anorexia, and abdominal pain
- Liver damage may become apparent 12 to 48 hours after ingestion
- Immediate treatment is essential in the management of Qcet overdose
- Options for treatment including activated charcoal and N-acetylcysteine
