Composition
- Each tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP 1250 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 200 IU.
- Each DX tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP 1500 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 400 IU.
- Each effervescent tablet contains Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) USP 1500 mg equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Cholecalciferol USP.
Mode of Action
- Adequate Calcium is essential for various bodily functions
- Vitamin D aids in Calcium absorption and stimulates bone formation
- Coral Calcium has a chemical structure similar to human bone, ensuring better absorption
Dosage and Administration
- One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water
- Dissolve 1 effervescent tablet in a glass of water and drink orally
- Taking with a full stomach ensures better absorption
Interactions
- Thiazide diuretics reduce urinary excretion of calcium and require monitoring
- Corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption
- Simultaneous treatment with ion exchange resins or laxatives may reduce vitamin D absorption
- Interference with tetracycline preparations should be avoided
- Hypercalcaemia may increase toxicity of cardiac glycosides
- Concurrent use with bisphosphonate or sodium fluoride may reduce gastrointestinal absorption
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
- Hypersensitivity to the components
- Severe renal insufficiency
- Concomitant digoxin therapy requiring careful monitoring

- Monitoring serum calcium levels and renal function during long-term treatment

- Special caution in patients with sarcoidosis and immobilized patients with osteoporosis

Overdose Effects
- Hypervitaminosis D and hypercalcaemia
- Symptoms of hypercalcaemia include thirst, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, muscle weakness, mental disturbances, and more severe conditions
- Treatment includes discontinuation of calcium and other relevant treatments based on severity
