Composition

  • Each tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP 1250 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 200 IU.
  • Each DX tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP 1500 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 400 IU.
  • Each effervescent tablet contains Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) USP 1500 mg equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Cholecalciferol USP.

Mode of Action

  • Adequate Calcium is essential for various bodily functions
  • Vitamin D aids in Calcium absorption and stimulates bone formation
  • Coral Calcium has a chemical structure similar to human bone, ensuring better absorption

Dosage and Administration

  • One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water
  • Dissolve 1 effervescent tablet in a glass of water and drink orally
  • Taking with a full stomach ensures better absorption

Interactions

  • Thiazide diuretics reduce urinary excretion of calcium and require monitoring
  • Corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption
  • Simultaneous treatment with ion exchange resins or laxatives may reduce vitamin D absorption
  • Interference with tetracycline preparations should be avoided
  • Hypercalcaemia may increase toxicity of cardiac glycosides
  • Concurrent use with bisphosphonate or sodium fluoride may reduce gastrointestinal absorption

Contraindications

  • Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
  • Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
  • Hypersensitivity to the components
  • Severe renal insufficiency
  • Concomitant digoxin therapy requiring careful monitoring

  • Special caution in patients with sarcoidosis and immobilized patients with osteoporosis

Overdose Effects

  • Hypervitaminosis D and hypercalcaemia
  • Symptoms of hypercalcaemia include thirst, nausea, vomiting, abdominal pain, muscle weakness, mental disturbances, and more severe conditions
  • Treatment includes discontinuation of calcium and other relevant treatments based on severity
