Indications
- Treatment of Zinc, Iron, Folic Acid, B-vitamins and Vitamin-C deficiency during pregnancy and lactation
Composition
- Zinc Sulphate Monohydrate 61.8 mg
- Dried Ferrous Sulphate 150 mg
- Folic Acid (Vitamin-B9) 0.50 mg
- Thiamine Mononitrate (Vitamin-B1) 2 mg
- Riboflavin (Vitamin-B2) 2 mg
- Nicotinamide (Vitamin-B3) 10 mg
- Pyridoxine Hydrochloride (Vitamin-B6) 1 mg
- Ascorbic Acid (Vitamin-C) 50 mg
Pharmacology
- Zinc sulfate precipitates protein and has astringent and weak antiseptic activity
- Iron helps in making red blood cells and prevents iron deficiency anaemia
- Folic acid is essential for coenzymes production and nucleoprotein synthesis
- Nicotinamide is involved in cellular metabolic pathways
- Vitamin C is necessary for collagen formation and tissue repair
- Vitamin B complex maintains cell health and provides energy
Dosage & Administration
- One capsule daily, or as directed by the physician
- In severe cases, 2 capsules a day may be required
Contraindications
- Contradicted in patients with known hypersensitivity to any of the ingredients
Side Effects
- Generally well-tolerated with few allergic reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Recommended for use during pregnancy and lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Care should be taken in patients at risk of iron overload
- Iron chelates with tetracycline may impair absorption
Overdose Effects
- Accidental overdose of iron-containing products is a leading cause of fatal poisoning in children below 6 years
- Higher doses may cause gastrointestinal issues and sensory neuropathy
- Acute ingestion of Ascorbic acid likely not to cause significant effects
- Zinc toxicity associated with low copper status and reduced immune function
