Description
- Claviator-CV 250 mg Tablet is indicated for the treatment of various bacterial infections caused by sensitive bacteria.
DosageAndAdministration
- Dosage for Adolescents and Adults: 250-500 mg b.i.d. for 5-20 days depending on the infection type
- Dosage for Pediatric Patients: 20-30 mg/kg/day b.i.d. for 5-10 days depending on the infection type
- Tablet may be taken with or without food
Indications
- Treatment of Pharyngitis/Tonsillitis, Acute Bacterial Otitis Media, Maxillary Sinusitis, Lower Respiratory Tract Infections, Skin Infections, Urinary Tract Infections, Bone and Joint Infections, Gonorrhea, Lyme Disease, Septicemia, Meningitis, Switch Therapy
- Covers infections caused by specific bacteria such as Streptococcus, Haemophilus, Moraxella, Klebsiella, and E.coli
Pharmacology
- Cefuroxime: Bactericidal second generation cephalosporin antibiotic
- Active against a wide range of susceptible Gram-positive and Gram-negative organisms including beta-lactamase producing strains
- Inhibits bacterial cell wall synthesis by interfering with the transpeptidation process
- Clavulanic acid: Beta lactamase inhibitor that protects Cefuroxime from degradation by beta lactamase enzymes
Interaction
- Concomitant administration with probenecid increases serum concentration by 50%
- Drugs reducing gastric acidity may impact bioavailability
Contraindications
- Allergy to cephalosporin
- Pseudomembranous Colitis
