Interaction

- Systemic corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption, potentially necessitating an increase in calcium tablet dose
- Concomitant use of ion exchange resins, cholestyramine, or laxatives may reduce absorption of vitamin D
- Calcium carbonate may interfere with absorption of tetracycline preparations, requiring administration at least two hours apart
- Hypercalcaemia may increase cardiac glycoside toxicity, necessitating monitoring of ECG and serum calcium levels
- Coralcin-D should be administered at least three hours before bisphosphonate or sodium fluoride intake to avoid reduced gastrointestinal absorption
- Oxalic acid and phytic acid may inhibit calcium absorption, requiring avoidance of calcium products within two hours of consuming these foods
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
- Hypersensitivity to the components of the preparation
- Severe renal insufficiencies
