Angilock Plus 100 mg+12.5 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Treatment of hypertension
• Risk reduction of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy

Pharmacology

• Angiotensin II vasoconstrictor
• Aldosterone secretion stimulator
• Blockage of angiotensin II binding
• Thiazide diuretic effect on renal tubular mechanisms

Dosage

• Usual starting dose of 50/12.5 is one tablet once daily
• Dosage may be increased to 100/25 once daily if needed
• Antihypertensive effect attained within three weeks
• No initial dosage adjustment for elderly patients

Administration

• May be administered with or without food
• May be administered with other antihypertensive agents

Interaction

• No significant drug-drug interactions found in studies
• Potential interaction with potassium-sparing diuretics
• Interaction with antidiabetic drugs may require dosage adjustment

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component
• Contraindicated in patients with anuria or hypersensitivity to sulfonamide-derived drugs

Side Effects

• Symptomatic hypotension including dizziness
• Occasional hyperkalemia
• Reported angioedema
• Possible vertigo and gastro-intestinal disturbances

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Avoided in pregnancy unless essential
• Limited information for use in breastfeeding

Precautions & Warnings

• Periodic determination of serum electrolytes
• Rare development of hypokalemia
• Impaired renal function and symptomatic hypotension

Use in Special Populations

• Usual regimens may be followed with creatinine clearance >30 ml/min
• Loop diuretics preferred in more severe renal impairment
• Not recommended for titration in hepatic impairment

Overdose Effects

• Manifestations may include hypotension and tachycardia
• Supportive treatment for symptomatic hypotension
