Indications
- Constipation of any etiology
- Relief from prolonged & recurrent constipation
- Bowel clearance before surgery, childbirth or radiological investigations.
Pharmacology
- Stimulates nerve endings of the intestinal wall
- Promotes colonic peristalsis
- Reduces transit time
- Softens stool
- Stimulates defecation
- Causes increased motility and rectal fullness
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended night-time administration
- Start with lowest dose
- Maximum recommended daily dose should not be exceeded
Interactions
- May interact with diuretics or adreno-corticosteroids
- Concurrent administration of antibiotics may reduce the laxative action
Contraindications
- Ileus or intestinal obstruction
- Severe painful and/or feverish acute abdominal conditions
- Severe dehydration
- Known hypersensitivity to Sodium Picosulfate or any other component
