Indications
- Prevention of Vitamin D3 deficiency

Pharmacology
- Active form: Calcitriol
- Binding to Vitamin D receptors (VDRs)
- Absorption in the small intestine
- Metabolism to 25-hydroxy Vitamin D3 (Calcidiol)
- Half-life of about 50 days
- Storage in fat and muscle
- Elimination via faeces and urine
Dosage & Administration
- Capsule for adults: 40000 IU once weekly for 7 weeks
- Capsule for children: 20000 IU once every 2 weeks for 6 weeks
- Film-coated tablet: 1000 IU daily
- Oroflash or chewable tablets: 1000-2000 IU daily
- Syrup dosage for different age groups
- Injection dosage for prevention and deficiency

Contraindications
- Diseases associated with hypercalcaemia
- Known hypersensitivity to Vitamin D3
