Indications

  • Adjunct to systemic therapy for topical infections
  • Treatment of infected surgical incisions
  • Prevention and treatment of infections in burns, incisions, and wounds
  • Preoperative and postoperative scrubbing and washing
  • Treatment of dry eye conditions

Dosage & Administration

  • Apply once or twice daily for a maximum of 14 days
  • Use undiluted or diluted as advised by a healthcare professional
  • Apply a light dusting as required
  • Instill 1 drop 4 times daily or as required

Pharmacology

  • Complex of iodine and povidone
  • Microbicidal activity against bacteria, protozoa, viruses, and fungi
  • Non-staining and active in the presence of various substances

Interaction

  • May interact with strong alkali, sodium thiosulphate, and others

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity reactions
  • Avoid in patients with thyroid disorders or receiving lithium therapy
  • Assess serum iodide levels in severely burnt patients

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Not recommended during pregnancy

  • Avoid wearing contact lenses during instillation of the eye drops
