Medicine Details

Indicated for allergic non-infectious blepharitis and conjunctivitis
Effective for non-infectious keratitis, punctate keratitis, disciform keratitis
Useful for inflammation of the anterior uvea (iritis, iridocyclitis)
Beneficial for scleritis, episcleritis and myositis
Suitable for post-operative management of cataract, strabismus & other ocular surgeries
High anti-inflammatory activity due to the presence of methyl group in the 16-alpha position and a fluorine atom in the 9-alpha position
Anti-allergic, anti-exudative, and anti-proliferative
Inhibits the chemotactic infiltration of neutrophils into the site of inflammation
Dosage: Instill 1 drop into the conjunctival sac 3-5 times per day for ophthalmic solution
Dosage: Apply a small amount into the conjunctival sac 3-4 times per day for ophthalmic ointment
Interaction studies not conducted with Decason
Contraindicated for injuries and ulcerating processes of the cornea
Avoid in bacterial or viral origin infections, purulent infections, tuberculosis, mycosis, glaucoma
Potential reversible rise in intraocular pressure in predisposed patients
Caution during pregnancy & lactation, use if potential benefit justifies potential risk to the fetus
Corticosteroids may mask, activate, or aggravate an eye infection
Overdose through local or accidental oral administration is not likely
Store at room temperature & protect from light
Desirable that the contents should not be used more than one month after first opening of the bottle

Therapeutic concentrations found in both the cornea and aqueous humour 15-30 minutes after local application
Concentrations persist for 4-6 hours
