Indications
- Treatment of eye infections
- Prevention of inflammation
- Prevention of bacterial infection after eye surgery
Composition
- Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride BP equivalent to Moxifloxacin 5 mg
- Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate USP equivalent to Dexamethasone Phosphate 1 mg
Mode of Action
- Moxifloxacin inhibits topoisomerase II and topoisomerase IV
- Dexamethasone inhibits phospholipase A2 and chemotactic infiltration of neutrophils
Dosage & Administration
- Instill 1 drop, 4 times a day for prevention of infection and post-surgical ocular inflammation
- Instill immediately after eye surgery for patients undergoing cataract surgery
- Instill at least 15 minutes after ocular surgery for patients undergoing LASIK refractive surgery
- Instill 1 drop, 4 times a day for up to 7 days for eye infections caused by susceptible microorganisms
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to quinolones
- Glaucoma
- Thinning of the cornea or sclera
- Inflammation in the eye caused by virus, fungi or mycobacteria
- Various viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva
- Mycobacterial infection of the eye
- Fungal diseases of ocular structures

- Subconjunctival hemorrhage
- Tearing
- Cataract formation
- Secondary ocular infection

Pregnancy & Lactation
- Use during pregnancy if potential benefit justifies potential risk to fetus
- Caution advised during lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Discontinue use if allergic reaction occurs
- Prolonged steroid use may result in ocular hypertension and glaucoma
- Evaluate intraocular pressure routinely
- Steroids may mask infection or enhance existing infection in acute purulent conditions of the eye
Use in Special Populations
- No change in dosage for elderly patients
- Efficacy and safety not established in pediatric patients
