Composition

Guaifenesin BP 100 mg
Levomenthol BP 1.1 mg
Diphenhydramine Hydrochloride BP 14 mg

Pharmacology

Reduces viscosity of sputum
Expectorant properties
Local anesthetic and decongestant properties
Antitussive, antihistaminic, and anticholinergic properties

Dosage & Administration

For adults and children over 12 years: 2 teaspoonfuls syrup 4 times a day
Do not take more than 8 teaspoonful syrup in 24 hours
Efficacy and safety not established in pediatric patients and adolescents

Interaction

Potentiates effects of alcohol and CNS depressants
Enhances effects of anticholinergics
May result in tachycardia, dry mouth, gastrointestinal disturbances, urinary retention, and headache

Contraindications

Known hypersensitivity to the product or any of its components
Previous treatment with MAOIs within the last two weeks

Pregnancy & Lactation

Should not be taken by individuals with narrow-angle glaucoma or symptomatic prostatic hypertrophy
Not to be used for persistent or chronic cough unless directed by a physician

Overdose Effects

Excess Guaifenesin may cause renal calculi
Treatment of overdose should be symptomatic and supportive
