Indications
- Treatment of corneal ulcers
- Treatment of conjunctivitis
- Treatment of blepharitis
Composition
- Active Substance: Ciprofloxacin Hydrochloride BP equivalent to Ciprofloxacin 3 mg
- Preservative: Benzalkonium Chloride 0.06 mg
Pharmacology
- Inhibits the A subunits of DNA gyrase (topoisomerase)
Dosage & Administration
- Instill 2 drops every 15 minutes for corneal ulcers
- Instill 1 drop every two hours for bacterial conjunctivitis/blepharitis
- Not established for children under 1 year of age
Interaction
- Potential elevation of plasma concentrations of theophylline
- Interference with the metabolism of caffeine
- Enhanced effects of oral anticoagulant warfarin
- Transient elevations in serum creatinine with cyclosporin concomitantly
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Ciprofloxacin or any component of the product
- Hypersensitivity to other quinolones
Side Effects
- Local burning or discomfort
- White crystalline precipitates in approximately 17% of patients
- Lid margin crusting
- Foreign body sensation
- Itching
- Conjunctival hyperemia
- Bad taste following instillation
- Corneal staining
- Keratopathy/keratitis
- Allergic reactions
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Should be used during pregnancy only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to fetus
Precautions & Warnings
- Prolonged use may result in overgrowth of non-susceptible organisms, including fungi
- Discontinue at the first appearance of a skin rash or any sign of hypersensitivity reaction
Overdose Effects
- Topical overdose may be flushed from the eye(s) with warm tap water

- Contents should not be used more than one month after first opening
