Composition
- Each tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP 1250 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 200 IU
- Each DX tablet contains Calcium Carbonate USP 1500 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 400 IU
- Each effervescent tablet contains Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) USP 1500 mg equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Cholecalciferol USP
Pharmacology

- Coral Calcium sourced from coral origin
- Better absorption than other sources
- Vitamin D3 aids in the absorption of Calcium and helps to maintain Calcium balance in the body
Dosage & Administration
- Take one tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water
- Dissolve 1 effervescent tablet in a glass of water to drink orally
- Ensure intake on a full stomach for better absorption
Interaction
- Thiazide diuretics reduce urinary excretion of calcium
- Systemic corticosteroids reduce calcium absorption
- Ion exchange resins and laxatives may reduce vitamin D absorption
- Calcium carbonate may interfere with tetracycline absorption
- Hypercalcemia may increase toxicity of cardiac glycosides
- Avoid calcium products within two hours of foods high in oxalic acid and phytic acid
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
- Hypersensitivity to the component of this preparation
- Severe renal insufficiencies
- Concomitant digoxin therapy
Side Effects
- Oral administration may be irritating to the GI tract
- May cause constipation
- Rarely produces hypercalcemia
- May lead to allergic reactions, irregular heartbeats, nausea, vomiting, decreased appetite, dry mouth, and drowsiness
- Skin rash reported after Vitamin D supplement administration
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Daily intake should not exceed 1500 mg calcium and 600 IU cholecalciferol
- Overdoses should be avoided to prevent permanent hypercalcemia and adverse effects on the foetus
- No indications that vitamin D at therapeutic doses is teratogenic in humans
- Calcium and vitamin D3 pass into breast milk
Precautions & Warnings
- Monitor serum calcium levels during long-term treatment
- Renal function should be monitored through measurement of serum creatinine
- Important to monitor patients on concomitant treatment with cardiac glycosides or diuretics
- Use Vitamin D with caution in patients with impaired renal function
- Prescribe with caution to patients suffering from sarcoidosis
- Consider dose adjustment when prescribing other drugs containing vitamin D
Overdose Effects
- Can lead to hypervitaminosis D and hypercalcemia
- Symptoms may include anorexia, thirst, nausea, vomiting, constipation, muscle weakness, fatigue, mental disturbances, polydipsia, polyuria, bone pain, and more
- Persistently high calcium levels may lead to irreversible renal damage and soft tissue calcification
