Description

  • Losan Plus is indicated for the treatment of hypertension and to reduce the risk of stroke in patients with hypertension and left ventricular hypertrophy.

Dosage

  • One tablet of 50/12.5 once daily as the usual starting dose for hypertension. Maximum dosage is one tablet of 100/25 once daily.

Administration

  • May be administered with other antihypertensive agents. Can be taken with or without food.

Interaction

  • Losartan Potassium may interact with potassium-sparing diuretics, while Hydrochlorothiazide may interact with alcohol, barbiturates, or narcotics.

Contraindications

  • Contraindicated in patients who are hypersensitive to any component of this product.

Side Effects

  • Symptomatic hypotension, dizziness, hyperkalaemia, angioedema, vertigo, gastrointestinal disturbances, headache, sleep disorders, malaise, urticaria, pruritus, rash, and more.

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Should be avoided in pregnancy unless essential. Not recommended in breastfeeding.

Precautions & Warnings

  • Periodic determination of serum electrolytes, hypokalemia, impaired renal function, and symptomatic hypotension should be monitored.

Special Populations

  • In patients with more severe renal impairment, loop diuretics are preferred to thiazides. Not recommended in pediatric patients.

Overdose Effects

  • Overdosage may manifest as hypotension, tachycardia, bradycardia, and electrolyte depletion. Supportive treatment should be instituted.
