Indications

Pharmacology

  • Structural derivative of inhibitory neurotransmitter gamma-aminobutyric acid (GABA)
  • Binds with high affinity to the alpha2-delta site in central nervous system tissues

Dosage

  • Maximum recommended dose of 100 mg three times a day for diabetic peripheral neuropathy
  • Recommended dose of 75 to 150 mg two times a day for postherpetic neuralgia
  • Recommended dose of 300 to 450 mg/day for fibromyalgia

Administration

  • Oral route
  • Should be swallowed whole
  • Should not be split, crushed or chewed

Drug Interaction

  • Unlikely to be involved in significant pharmacokinetic drug interactions

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Pregabalin or any of its components

Special Populations

  • Safety and effectiveness in pediatric patients have not been established for the management of neuropathic pain associated with diabetic peripheral neuropathy, postherpetic neuralgia, neuropathic pain associated with spinal cord injury and fibromyalgia
  • Masafety and effectiveness in pediatric patients below the age of 1 month have not been established

Overdose

  • In case of overdose with Pregaver, reduced consciousness, depression/anxiety, agitation and restlessness
  • Seizures and heart block have also been reported
