Pharmacology
Potent non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug (NSAID) with pronounced anti-rheumatic properties
Dosage & Administration
- Adults: 75-150 mg daily in 2 to 3 divided doses
- Children: 1-3 mg of diclofenac/kg body wt. daily in divided doses
- Elderly patients: lowest effective dosage recommended
Interaction
- Lithium and digoxin
- Anticoagulants
- Antidiabetic agents
- Cyclosporin
- Methotrexate
- Quinolone antimicrobials
- Other NSAIDs and steroids
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to any ingredient, peptic ulcer, asthmatic patient, occlusive airtight dressings
Side Effects
- Mild, rare and transient adverse effects
- Epigastric pain
- Peripheral edema
- Skin reactions
- Local irritation and reddening of the skin
Pregnancy & Lactation
Should be employed only for compelling reasons, not recommended during the first trimester of pregnancy, not recommended during lactation

- Close observation in advanced age patients
- Gel should not come in contact with eyes or mucus membranes
