Composition
- 0.5% w/v Chlorhexidine Gluconate
- 70% v/v Isopropyl Alcohol
Pharmacology
Bactericidal effect resulting from the binding of positively charged chlorhexidine cation to negatively charged bacterial cell walls
Dosage & Administration
- For disinfecting clean hands and contaminated materials: apply 3ml and scrub both hands' full surface area until dry
- For disinfecting surgical instruments: immerse instruments in 5ml for 2 minutes
- For disinfecting skin prior to surgery: apply 3ml with cotton and scrub until dry
- For disinfecting wound/wound dressing: apply 3ml with cotton and scrub until dry
Interaction
Incompatible with soaps and other anionic agents. May cause brown stains when in contact with hypochlorite bleaches
Contraindications
Hypersensitivity to Chlorhexidine Gluconate or any of its components
Side Effects
Skin irritation, allergic reactions, teeth discoloration, potential eye problems upon direct contact
Pregnancy & Lactation
Safe for pregnant women, not known if safe during lactation

Avoid contact with sensitive tissues, eyes, do not inject, do not use in body cavities
