Pharmacology

  • Inhibits gastric acid via proton pump inhibition
  • Effective for short-term treatment of gastric and duodenal ulcers

Dosage

  • Erosive esophagitis: 40 mg once daily for adults (≥18 years), 20 mg once daily for children & adolescents (12-18 years)
  • Risk reduction in NSAID associated gastric ulcer: 20 mg once daily for 4-8 weeks for adults (≥18 years)
  • H. pylori eradication: 20 mg twice daily for 7 days for adults (≥18 years)
  • Zollinger-Ellison syndrome and idiopathic hypersecretion: 40-80 mg twice daily for adults (≥18 years)

Administration

  • Swallow whole with liquid
  • Disperse in non-carbonated water if needed
  • Do not chew or crush
  • Rinse the glass with water and drink

Interaction

  • Metabolized in the liver by CYP2C19 and CYP3A4
  • Inhibits gastric acid secretion
  • May interfere with the absorption of certain drugs

  • Known hypersensitivity to any of the formulation
