Indications
- Treatment of advanced carcinoma of the ovary

Pharmacology
- Promotes assembly of microtubules
- Stabilizes microtubules by preventing depolymerization
- Induces abnormal arrays of microtubules throughout the cell cycle
- Results in inhibition of normal dynamic reorganization of the microtubule network
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended premedication to prevent severe hypersensitivity reactions
- Specific dosage for first-line treatment of ovarian cancer
- Recommended doses for different types of breast carcinoma treatment
- Recommended dose for non-small cell lung cancer treatment

Interaction

Contraindications
- Contraindicated in patients with severe hypersensitivity reactions to paclitaxel
- Contraindicated during lactation
- Not to be used in patients with baseline neutrophils or platelets below certain levels
- Contraindicated in patients with severe hepatic impairment
- Contraindicated in patients with concurrent, serious, uncontrolled infections (Kaposi's Sarcoma)
Side Effects
- Common side effects including low blood counts, hair loss, pain in joints and muscles, neuropathy, nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, hypersensitivity reactions, fever, and more
- Rare side effects such as swelling of the feet or ankles, liver problems, low blood pressure, and darkening of the skin
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Category D in pregnancy
- Contraindicated during lactation
Precautions & Warnings
- Administration under the supervision of an experienced physician
- Potential for significant hypersensitivity reactions
- Monitoring for extravasation during drug administration
- Bone marrow suppression as the dose-limiting toxicity
- Severe cardiac conduction abnormalities reported rarely
Use in Special Populations
- Dose reduction for patients with severe neutropenia or neuropathy
- No recommended use in pediatric patients below 18 years
- Caution in patients with hepatic impairment
Overdose Effects
- No known antidote for Paclitor overdose
- Closely monitor patient and treat primary anticipated toxicities
Reconstitution
