Abetis Plus 20 mg+12.5 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Treatment of hypertension

Pharmacology

• Olmesartan blocks vasoconstrictor and aldosterone-secreting effects of angiotensin-II

Dosage & Administration

• Starting dose of 20/12.5 mg once daily

Interaction

• No significant drug interactions reported for Olmesartan
• Thiazide diuretics may interact with alcohol, barbiturates or narcotics, antidiabetic drugs, other antihypertensive drugs, corticosteroids, and lithium

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in patients hypersensitive to any component of the product
• Contraindicated in patients with anuria or hypersensitivity to sulfonamide-derived drugs

Side Effects

• Common side-effects include nausea, headache, dizziness, hyperuricemia, upper respiratory tract infections, and urinary tract infections
• Other adverse effects may include chest pain, back pain, peripheral edema, abdominal pain, dyspepsia, gastroenteritis, and diarrhea

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Safety and effectiveness not established in nursing mothers or during pregnancy. Drug should be discontinued in these conditions

Precautions & Warnings

• Periodic determination of serum electrolytes should be performed to detect possible electrolyte imbalance
• Hyperuricemia may occur with thiazide therapy
• Caution in patients with impaired renal function

Use in Special Populations

• Not recommended in renal impairment patients with creatinine clearance <30 ml/min
• No dosage adjustment necessary with hepatic impairment
• Safety and effectiveness not established in pediatric or geriatric patients

Overdose Effects

• Manifestations may include hypotension, tachycardia, electrolyte depletion, and dehydration

Therapeutic Class

• Combined antihypertensive preparations

Storage Conditions

• Store in a cool, dry place, protect from light and moisture, keep out of the reach of children
