Indications

Pharmacology

  • Selective alpha1 adrenoceptor blocking agent
  • Improves urine flow rate
  • Reduces symptoms of BPH
  • Absorption rate and pharmacokinetics
  • Extensively metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes

Dosage & Administration

  • Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4 mg daily
  • May be increased to 0.8 mg if necessary
  • Swallow whole with water after meal
  • Not to be crunched or chewed

Interaction

  • Concurrent administration effects with other alfa1-adrenoceptor antagonists
  • No interactions with specific medications
  • Cimetidine and frusemide effects on plasma levels

  • Hypersensitivity
