Indications

Treatment of functional symptoms of Benign Prostatic Hyperplasia (BPH)

Pharmacology

Selective alpha1 adrenoceptor blocking agent
Improves urine flow rate
Reduces symptoms of BPH
Absorption rate and pharmacokinetics
Extensively metabolized by cytochrome P450 enzymes

Dosage & Administration

Tamsulosin Hydrochloride 0.4 mg daily
May be increased to 0.8 mg if necessary
Swallow whole with water after meal
Not to be crunched or chewed

Interaction

Concurrent administration effects with other alfa1-adrenoceptor antagonists
No interactions with specific medications
Cimetidine and frusemide effects on plasma levels

Hypersensitivity
History of orthostatic hypotension
