Description
A combination of calcium carbonate and vitamin D3 used to prevent and treat calcium and vitamin D deficiency, and for the prevention of osteoporosis, treatment of rickets, osteomalacia, and improvement of bone health in the elderly.

Composition
- Each tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate USP 1250 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 500 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 200 IU.
- Each DX tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate USP 1500 mg (Coral source) equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium & Vitamin D USP 400 IU.
- Each effervescent tablet contains: Calcium Carbonate (Coral source) USP 1500 mg equivalent to 600 mg of elemental Calcium and Vitamin D3 400 IU as Cholecalciferol USP.
Pharmacology
Describes the vital role of calcium for bodily functions, the importance of Vitamin D for healthy bones, and the synergistic effects of calcium and vitamin D on bone growth and osteoporosis prevention.
Dosage and administration
One tablet once or twice daily with plenty of water or as directed by a physician. Effervescent tablets should be dissolved in water and taken orally.
Interaction
- Interactions with thiazide diuretics, systemic corticosteroids, ion exchange resins, laxatives, tetracycline preparations, bisphosphonate, sodium fluoride, oxalic acid, and phytic acid.
- Need for monitoring serum calcium levels during concomitant use
Contraindications
- Hypercalcemia and hyperparathyroidism
- Hypercalciuria and nephrolithiasis
- Hypersensitivity to the component
- Severe renal insufficiencies
- Concomitant digoxin therapy
