Indications
- Treatment of hypertension
Pharmacology
- Inhibition of angiotensin-II receptor
- Diuretic effect on renal tubular mechanisms
- Reduction in plasma volume
- Increase in plasma renin activity
- Increase in aldosterone secretion
- Decrease in serum potassium levels
Dosage & Administration
- Usual starting dose of 20/12.5 mg once daily
- Individualized dosing
- Possibility of titration to 40/25 mg once daily based on blood pressure response
Interaction
- No significant drug interactions with Olmesartan Medoxomil
- Possible interactions of Hydrochlorothiazide with alcohol, barbiturates, narcotics, antidiabetic drugs, other antihypertensive drugs, corticosteroids, ACTH, and lithium
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to any component of the product
- Anuria
- Hypersensitivity to sulfonamide-derived drugs

- Usual therapy regimens for patients with creatinine clearance >30 ml/min
- Preferential use of loop diuretics in severe renal impairment
