Dosage & Administration
- Initial oral dose 5 mg
- Maximum dose 10 mg
- Dosage adjustment according to patient's need
- Recommended starting dose 10 mg daily
- Dosage range 10 to 80 mg once daily
- Administered with or without food
Interaction
- Myopathy risk with concurrent administration of certain drugs
- Altered plasma concentrations with concurrent administration of specific drugs
- Potentiation effect with other antihypertensive
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to Amlodipine
- Hypersensitivity to Atorvastatin
- Active liver disease
- Unexplained elevations of serum transaminases
Side Effects
- Gradual onset of vasodilatation induced by Amlodipine
- Documented increased frequency, duration, or severity of angina or acute myocardial infarction
- Biochemical abnormalities of liver function
- Elevated serum creatine phosphokinase levels
- Common adverse effects include constipation, flatulence, dyspepsia, abdominal pain
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Safety not established in pregnancy
- Not recommended during breastfeeding
Precautions & Warnings
- Increased angina and/or myocardial infarction in some patients
- Biochemical abnormalities of liver function
- Potential acute hypotension with Amlodipine
- Caution in patients with heart failure
- Rhabdomyolysis risk with Atorvastatin
- Markedly elevated CPK levels requiring discontinuation of Atorvastatin therapy
Use in Special Populations
- Safety and efficacy not established in children
- Similar efficacy and safety in older patients using recommended doses
