Ramicard Plus 2.5 mg+12.5 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Treatment of mild to moderate hypertension
• Combination therapy for stabilized patients

Pharmacology

• Ramipril is an ACE inhibitor
• Hydrochlorothiazide is a thiazide diuretic
• Decreased plasma angiotensin II
• Reduction of risk of stroke and myocardial infarction

Dosage & Administration

• Dose titration guided by clinical effect
• Maximum daily dose of 10 mg ramipril and 50 mg hydrochlorothiazide

Interaction

• Potentiation with diuretics or other antihypertensive agents
• Weakening of blood sugar lowering medications
• Attenuation with acetyl salicylic acid or indomethacin
• Potentiation with alcohol

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to ramipril or hydrochlorothiazide
• History of hereditary angioneurotic oedema
• Severe impairment of renal function
• Clinically relevant electrolyte disturbances

• Hyperglycaemia
• Photosensitivity

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Risk of foetal or neonatal morbidity and death
• Crossing the placental barrier
• Excretion in breast milk
• Discontinuation in pregnancy

Precautions & Warnings

• Regular medical supervision
• Correction of dehydration before treatment
• Special caution in severe hypertension and heart failure
• Monitoring of white blood cell count

Use in Special Populations

• Dosage adjustment in renal impairment
• Safety and effectiveness not established in pediatric patients

Overdose Effects

• Ramipril overdosage treatment with normal saline solution
• Hydrochlorothiazide overdosage causing electrolyte depletion and dehydration
