Indications

Pharmacology
- Selective serotonin and norepinephrine reuptake inhibitor (SSNRI)
- Less potent inhibitor of dopamine reuptake
- No significant affinity for various receptors
- Well absorbed
- Mainly hepatic metabolism
Dosage & Administration
- Starting dose: 30mg/day - 60mg/day
- Target dose: 40mg/day - 120mg/day
- Maximum dose: 120mg/day
- Gradual dose reduction recommended
Interaction
- Metabolism by CYP1A2 and CYP2D6 isozymes
- Inhibition by fluvoxamine, cimetidine, and quinolone antimicrobials
- Concomitant use with potent inhibitors of CYP2D6 may result in higher concentrations
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to the drug or any inactive ingredients
- Not approved for treating bipolar depression
- Substantial alcohol use or evidence of chronic liver disease
- Caution in controlled narrow-angle glaucoma
