Description
Neorex is a first-generation cephalosporin antibiotic indicated for the treatment of respiratory tract infections, genito-urinary tract infections, skin and soft tissue infections, ear, nose, and throat infections, and bone infections caused by susceptible organisms. It works by interfering in the synthesis of the bacterial cell wall, leading to bacterial cell rupture. The recommended dosage varies for adults and children, and caution is advised in patients with renal impairment. Cephalexin is contraindicated in patients with known hypersensitivity to the cephalosporin group of antibiotics. Caution should be taken when using the product during pregnancy and lactation. Common side effects include nausea, vomiting, diarrhea, and abdominal discomfort.
