- Inhibition of DNA gyrase and topoisomerase IV

Dosage & Administration
- 200mg tablets
- Loading dose on the first day
- Dosing frequency adjustment for renal impairment
Interaction
- Chelation with aluminium and magnesium cations in antacids and sucralfate
- No interaction with theophylline, caffeine, warfarin, cimetidine, or probenecid
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to ingredients
- Pregnancy and lactation
- Glucose-6-Phosphate Dehydrogenase (G6PD) deficiency
- History of Achilles tendinitis following fluoroquinolones use

Precautions & Warnings
- Discontinuation at first signs of phototoxicity reaction
- Adequate hydration to prevent concentrated urine
- Caution in renal insufficiency
- Avoid concomitant QTc interval prolonging medications
- Avoid excessive sunlight exposure
Use in Special Populations
- No altered pharmacokinetics in the elderly with normal renal function
- No gender differences in pharmacokinetics
- Pharmacokinetics not studied in pediatric subjects
- Plasma concentration increase in renal impairment
- No alteration in mild or moderate hepatic impairment without cholestasis
