Indications
- Treatment of onychomycosis of the toenail or fingernail
- Treatment of Tinea Capitis (fungal infection of the scalp)
- Treatment of fungal infections of the skin caused by various microorganisms
- Treatment of tinea infections of the skin
- Treatment of pityriasis (tinea) versicolor
Pharmacology
- Inhibits biosynthesis of Ergosterol
- Fungicidal at certain concentrations
- Active against Tricophyton Mentagrophyte and Trichophyton Rubrum
Dosage & Administration
- Different dosages for fingernail and toenail onychomycosis
- Variety of dosages for body weight in granules
- Different durations of treatment for various fungal infections
Interaction
- Inhibitor of the CYP450 2D6 isozyme
- Potential interaction with tricyclic antidepressants, beta-blockers, etc.
Contraindications
- Contra-indicated in individuals hypersensitive to terbinafine
