Description
Flupro is indicated for the relief of inflammatory and pruritic manifestations of corticosteroid responsive eczema/dermatitis.
DosageAndAdministration
- Apply a thin layer of Fluticasone propionate cream to the affected skin once daily.
- Apply a thin layer of Fluticasone propionate Ointment to the affected skin twice daily.
Pharmacology
Fluticasone propionate is a glucocorticoid with high topical anti-inflammatory potency, but a low HPA-axis suppressive activity after dermal administration.
Interaction
No known interactions with other medications.
Contraindications
Not indicated for use in Rosacea, Acne vulgaris, Perioral dermatitis, primary cutaneous viral infections, Hypersensitivity to any ingredients, Perianal and genital pruritus, and dermatoses in children under one year of age.
SideEffects
- Local burning and pruritus
- Atrophic changes in the skin with prolonged and intensive treatment
- Secondary infection with occlusive dressing use
- Exacerbation of signs and symptoms of dermatoses with corticosteroid use
PregnancyAndLactation
Use during pregnancy and lactation should be considered if the expected benefit to the mother outweighs any possible risk to the fetus or infant.
PrecautionsAndWarnings
- Prolonged application of high doses in infants might lead to adrenal suppression
- Atrophic changes may occur on the face with prolonged treatment
- Antimicrobial therapy should be used when treating infected lesions
- Avoid occlusive dressing to prevent bacterial infection
OverdoseEffects
Chronic overdosage may result in hypercorticism; discontinuation of application is necessary.
