Mode of Action

  • Neutralizing stomach acid
  • Forming protective barrier over stomach contents
  • Rapid reaction with gastric acid

  • Protection from Acid, Pepsin, and Bile

Dosage & Administration

  • Adult dosage: 10-20 mL after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day
  • Children 6 to 12 years: 5-10 mL after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day
  • Chewable Tablet dosage for adults and children 12 years and over: 2-4 tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day

Interaction

  • Consider 2-hour interval between Gavista and other medications
  • Potential interactions with Tetracyclines, Digoxine, Fluoroquinolone, Iron salt, Ketoconazole, Neuroleptics, Thyroid Hormones, Penicillamine, beta-blockers, Glucocorticoid, Chloroquine, Biphosphonates, Estramustine

Contraindications

  • Known or suspected hypersensitivity to active ingredients or excipients

  • High sodium and calcium content in each 20 mL dose
  • Caution in treating patients with hypercalcaemia and renal calculi
  • Avoid use in phenylketonuria patients (due to aspartame content)
  • Seek medical advice if symptoms persist for more than 7 days continuously
  • Potential masking of symptoms of more serious medical conditions
