Indications

  • Treatment of eye infections
  • Prevention of inflammation after eye surgery

Composition

  • Moxifloxacin Hydrochloride BP equivalent to Moxifloxacin 5 mg
  • Dexamethasone Sodium Phosphate USP equivalent to Dexamethasone Phosphate 1 mg

Pharmacology

  • Broad spectrum 4th generation fluorinated quinolone
  • Inhibits topoisomerase II and topoisomerase IV
  • Anti-allergic, anti-exudative and anti-proliferative properties

Dosage & Administration

  • Instill 1 drop, 4 times a day for prevention of infection and post-surgical ocular inflammation
  • Instill the medication immediately after eye surgery for patients undergoing cataract surgery
  • Instill the medication at least 15 minutes after ocular surgery for patients undergoing LASIK refractive surgery
  • Instill 1 drop, 4 times a day for up to 7 days in eye infections caused by susceptible microorganisms

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to quinolones or any components of the product
  • Glaucoma or ocular disease causing thinning of the cornea or sclera
  • Inflammation in the eye caused by virus, fungi or mycobacteria
  • Epithelial herpes simplex keratitis, vaccinia, varicella, and other viral diseases of the cornea and conjunctiva
  • Mycobacterial and fungal diseases of ocular structures

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Caution advised in pregnancy and lactation
  • Use only if potential benefit justifies potential risk to fetus

Precautions & Warnings

  • Discontinue use if allergic reaction occurs
  • Prolonged steroid use may result in ocular hypertension and/or glaucoma
  • Evaluate intraocular pressure routinely
  • Use with caution in diseases causing thinning of the cornea or sclera
  • Steroids may mask or enhance existing infection

Use in Special Populations

  • No change in dosage is required in elderly patients
  • Efficacy and safety not established in pediatric patients

Overdose Effects
