Adagel Plus 0.1%+2.5% (Gel)

Indications

• Topical treatment of acne vulgaris in patients 12 years of age and older

Pharmacology

• Adapalene binds to retinoic acid nuclear receptors
• Modulator of cellular differentiation, keratinization, and inflammatory processes
• Decreases microcomedone formation
• Benzoyl peroxide has bacteriocidal and keratolytic effects

Dosage & Administration

• Apply a thin film to affected areas once daily
• Use a pea-sized amount for each area of the face
• Avoid eyes, lips, and mucous membranes
• Not for oral, ophthalmic, or intravaginal use

Pediatric use

• Safety and effectiveness not established for patients under 12 years

Interaction

• Caution with concomitant topical acne therapy
• Possible cumulative irritancy effect with peeling, desquamating, or abrasive agents

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to any component

Side Effects

• Erythema
• Scaling
• Dryness
• Stinging/burning
• Most commonly reported adverse events include dry skin, contact dermatitis, application site burning, irritation

Pregnancy & Lactation

• No well-controlled trials in pregnant women
• Use during pregnancy only if benefit justifies risk to fetus
• Caution when administered to nursing women

Precautions & Warnings

• Avoid exposure to sunlight and sunlamps
• Wear sunscreen when sun exposure cannot be avoided
