Description

  • Gastrocon-R 500 Suspension is a combination of two antacids (Calcium carbonate and Sodium bicarbonate) and an alginate. It is commonly used to treat gastric reflux, heartburn, indigestion, and flatulence associated with gastric reflux.

Pharmacology

  • Combination of two antacids and an alginate
  • Neutralizes excess stomach acid
  • Forms a protective barrier over the stomach contents

Dosage & Administration

  • For oral suspension and chewable tablet
  • Adult and children over 12 years: 10-20 mL after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day
  • Children 6 to 12 years: 5-10 mL after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day
  • Elderly: No dose modifications necessary
  • Chewable Tablet: Take two to four tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day

Interaction

  • Time-interval of 2 hours should be considered between Gastrocon-R intake and the administration of other medicinal products

Contraindications

  • Known or suspected hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or excipients

Precautions & Warnings

  • Sodium content of 254.5 mg (11.06 mmol) per 20 ml
  • Calcium content of 260 mg (6.5 mmol) per 20 ml
  • Not recommended for children under 12 years without medical advice
  • Consideration for highly restricted salt diet and patients with hypercalcaemia, nephrocalcinosis, and recurrent calcium containing renal calculi

  • Symptomatic treatment should be given
  • Abdominal distension
