Indications
- Treatment of chorea associated with Huntington's disease
Pharmacology
- Vesicular monoamine transporter-2 (VMAT-2) inhibitor
- Symptomatic treatment of hyperkinetic disorders
Dosage & Administration
- Recommended dosing: Take with or without food
- Starting dose: 12.5 mg daily for 1st week
- Titration: Weekly titration by 12.5 mg to a tolerated dose
- Max daily dose: 100 mg for extensive and intermediate metabolizers
- Pediatric & geriatric use: Safety and effectiveness not established
Interaction
- Strong CYP2D6 Inhibitors may require dose reduction
- Avoid concurrent use with reserpine
Contraindications
- Actively suicidal or untreated/undertreated depression
- Hepatic impairment
- Concurrent use of MAOIs, reserpine, deutetrabenazine, valbenazine

Precautions & Warnings

- Psychological effects: Periodic re-evaluation of benefits and potential adverse effects
