Side Effects
- Rarely may cause symptoms like anorexia, nausea, vomiting, constipation, weight loss, headache, etc.
- Rise in plasma and urine calcium and phosphate concentrations
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Safe use during pregnancy up to 4000 IU
- Recommended daily intake for pregnant women is 400 IU, higher dose may be required for deficiency
- Excreted in breast milk, overdose in infants not observed
Precautions & Warnings
- Plasma-calcium concentration monitoring is necessary for high doses
- Consult healthcare practitioner in renal impairment, during pregnancy, and with specific diseases
- Advice for patients using Digoxin and Thiazide Diuretics
