Indications
- Acute relief of angina pectoris
- Prophylaxis of angina pectoris
Description
- Organic nitrate vasodilator
- Metered dose spray
- 400 mcg per spray
- 200 metered sprays
- Spray droplets under the tongue
Pharmacology
- Relaxation of vascular smooth muscle
- Vasodilator effect on arteries and veins
- Reduces left ventricular enddiastolic pressure
- Reduces systemic vascular resistance
Dosage
- 1-2 metered sprays at onset of attack
- Maximum 3 metered sprays in 15 minutes
- Prophylactic use 5-10 minutes prior to activity
Administration
- Carry at all times
- Not for routine use
- Avoid alcohol consumption
- Avoid sildenafil, vardenafil, or tadalafil
- Keep away from children
- Sit down during angina attack
- Do not shake container
- Administer under the tongue
- Avoid swallowing immediately after administering
Interaction
- Severe hypotension with alcohol use
- Enhanced bioavailability of dihydroergotamine
- Orthostatic hypotension with specific drug combinations
Contraindications
- Hypersensitivity to nitrates
- Hypotension, hypovolaemia, severe anaemia
- Cerebral haemorrhage and brain trauma
- Mitral stenosis and hypertrophic obstructive cardiomyopathy
- Concomitant use of phosphodiesterase inhibitors

Precautions & Warnings
- Attention during acute myocardial infarction
- Caution in patients with impaired renal or hepatic function, hypothyroidism, malnutrition, or hypothermia

Overdose Effects
- Symptoms of severe hypotension
- Headache
- Vertigo
- Palpitation
- Visual disturbance
- Flushing and perspiring skin
- Nausea and vomiting
- Syncope
- Methemoglobinemia
- Treatment includes recumbent position, oxygen administration, and methylene blue if necessary
