Indications
- Inhibits ovulation
- Inhibits sperm from entering the uterus

Composition
- Each white (hormone) tablet contains Ethinylestradiol USP 0.03 mg & Levonorgestrel USP 0.15 mg
- Each brown color (iron) tablet contains Ferrous Fumarate BP 75 mg
Pharmacology
- Effective, temporary, and short-term birth control management for women
- Combines Levonorgestrel and Ethinyl Estradiol hormones
- Contains 21 hormone tablets and 7 iron tablets per strip
- Suppresses ovulation to lower the risk of pregnancy
- Possible mechanisms include cervical mucus changes and endometrial changes
Dosage & Administration
- Start taking from the first day of menstruation
- Take one tablet daily with food, preferably after dinner or before sleeping
- Start with one white tablet daily for 3 weeks, then one brown tablet daily for 7 days
- Continue medication even if menstruation starts during brown tablet phase
- Use condom during sexual intercourse for 7 days if starting dose after menstruation
Interaction
- Enzyme inducers may decrease effectiveness
- Counsel patients to use a backup contraception when using enzyme inducers
- Avoid caffeine, dairy foods, and phytic acid containing food while taking the drug
Contraindications
- Known hypersensitivity to any components of the product
Side Effects
- Common: headache, nausea, mood changes, vaginal infections, irregular vaginal bleeding, pain
- Rare: liver tumors, jaundice, high blood pressure, gallbladder problems
Pregnancy & Lactation
- Contraindicated in pregnancy
- Discontinue if pregnancy occurs
- Can reduce milk production in breastfeeding females
Precautions & Warnings
- Stop medication if a thrombotic disorder occurs
- Discontinue in case of jaundice
- Monitor blood pressure in women with well-controlled hypertension
- Monitor prediabetic and diabetic women
- Evaluate significant change in headaches
Use in Special Populations
- Safety and efficacy established in women of reproductive age
- Expected efficacy in post-pubertal adolescents under 18 years
- Not indicated for use before menarche
Overdose Effects
- No reports of serious illness effects from overdose
- May cause withdrawal bleeding and nausea
