Dosage

  • Usual adult dosage of 1 gram
  • Intravenous or intramuscular administration
  • Dependent on susceptibility of the causative organisms
  • Dependent on severity of infection
  • Dependent on renal function of the patient

Administration

  • Intravenous or deep IM injection
  • Reconstitution with Sterile Water for Injection

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Ceftazidime or cephalosporin antibiotics

Pregnancy & Lactation

  • Use during pregnancy only if clearly needed

  • Caution in individuals with a history of gastrointestinal disease

Use in Special Populations

  • Dosage reduction in impaired renal function
  • Use in peritoneal dialysis and continuous ambulatory peritoneal dialysis (CAPD)
  • No dosage adjustment for patients with hepatic dysfunction

Overdose Effects

  • Seizure activity
  • Encephalopathy
  • Neuromuscular excitability
  • Supportive treatment for acute overdosage
