Indications

  • Acute relief of angina pectoris
  • Prophylaxis of angina pectoris

Dosage

1 or 2 metered sprays under the tongue at the onset of the attack, not more than 3 sprays within 15 minutes

Mode of Action

Relaxation of vascular smooth muscle, vasodilator effect on both arteries and veins

Administration Instructions

  • Sit down when feeling an angina attack
  • Hold the container upright and spray under the tongue
  • Avoid swallowing immediately after administering the spray

Interaction

May cause severe hypotension and collapse when used with alcohol

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to nitrates
  • Severe anaemia, cerebral haemorrhage, brain trauma
  • Concomitant administration with phosphodiesterase inhibitors for erectile dysfunction

Safety and effectiveness not established in pediatric patients

Overdose Effects

May lead to severe hypotension, headache, vertigo, palpitation, visual disturbance, flushing, syncope, methemoglobinemia, and more
