Indications

  • Treatment of hypertension
  • Lowering blood pressure
  • Reducing risk of cardiovascular events

Pharmacology

  • Telmisartan: Blockade of AT1 receptor
  • Hydrochlorothiazide: Thiazide diuretic effect

Dosage & Administration

  • 80 mg/12.5 mg once daily
  • Titration to 160 mg/25 mg if necessary
  • May be administered with other antihypertensive drugs

Interaction

  • Caution with aliskiren
  • Caution with other high blood pressure medicines
  • Potential interference with certain laboratory tests

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to Telmisartan or Hydrochlorothiazide
  • Co-administration with Aliskiren in diabetic patients
