Moodnor 10 mg (Tablet)

Indications

• Treatment of depression
• Treatment of nocturnal enuresis

Pharmacology

• Increases synaptic concentration of serotonin and/or norepinephrine in the CNS
• Blocks neuronal reuptake of norepinephrine and serotonin

Dosage & Administration

• Adult dosage: Low dose initially increased as necessary, max. 150 mg daily
• Adolescent & Elderly dosage: 30-50 mg daily
• Child dosage for nocturnal enuresis: 10-35 mg, depending on age

Interaction

• Not to be given with adrenaline, ephedrine, isoprenaline, noradrenaline, phenylephrine, phenylpropanolamine, MAOIs, guanethidine, debrisoquine, clonidine, reserpine, and drugs metabolized by CYP4502D6
• Barbiturates may increase the rate of metabolism of Moodnor

Contraindications

• Hypersensitivity to nortriptyline
• Concomitant administration with MAOI or within 2 weeks of stopping an MAOI
• During the acute recovery period after myocardial infarction

Side Effects

• Dry mouth
• Sedation
• Constipation
• Increased appetite
• Blurred vision
• Tinnitus
• Euphoria and mania
• Rapid or irregular heartbeat

Pregnancy & Lactation

• Safety not established for use in pregnancy
• Should only be given during pregnancy when there are no alternatives and benefit outweighs risk

Precautions & Warnings

• Not intended for treatment of bipolar depression
• Avoid abrupt withdrawal
• Patient at risk of seizures, with DM, narrow angle glaucoma, urinary retention, prostatic hyperplasia, chronic constipation, history of CV disease
• Renal and hepatic impairment
• Elderly, children
• Pregnancy and lactation

Overdose Effects

• Symptoms: Severe hypotension, cardiac dysrhythmias, shock, CHF, pulmonary edema, convulsions, and CNS depression, including coma; changes in ECG
• Management: Symptomatic and supportive treatment, IV Na bicarbonate, benzodiazepines, activated charcoal to reduce absorption
• Cardiac monitoring and observe for signs of CNS or respiratory depression, hypotension, cardiac dysrhythmias and/or conduction blocks, seizures
