Description
Gavis 500 Suspension is a combination of two antacids (Calcium carbonate and Sodium bicarbonate) and an alginate. It is used to treat gastric reflux, heartburn, indigestion, and flatulence associated with gastric reflux.
Indications
- Gastric reflux
- Heartburn
- Indigestion
- Flatulence associated with gastric reflux
- Heartburn of pregnancy
- Epigastric distress
- Retrosternal distress
Mode of Action
- Neutralizing excess stomach acid
- Forming a protective barrier over the stomach contents
Dosage & Administration
- Adult and children over 12 years: 10-20 mL after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day
- Children 6 to 12 years: 5-10 mL after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day
- Adults and children 12 years and over: Two to four chewable tablets after meals and at bedtime, up to four times a day
Interaction
A time-interval of 2 hours should be considered between Gavis intake and the administration of other medicinal products such as Tetracyclines, Digoxine, Fluoroquinolone, Iron salt, Ketoconazole, Neuroleptics, Thyroid Hormones, Penicillamine, beta-blockers, Glucocorticoid, Chloroquine and Biphosphonates

Hypersensitivity to the active ingredients or any of the excipients

- High in sodium and calcium content
- Caution in patients with hypercalcaemia, nephrocalcinosis, and recurrent calcium-containing renal calculi

Abdominal distension may occur in the event of overdose
