Indications

• Regular treatment of asthma
• Treatment with combination product
• Asthma patients not adequately controlled with inhaled corticosteroids
• Asthma patients already adequately controlled on both inhaled corticosteroid and long-acting β2-agonist

Pharmacology

• Salmeterol Xinafoate is a selective, long-acting beta-2 agonist
• Fluticasone Propionate is a corticosteroid with mainly glucocorticoid activity
• Salmeterol protects against symptoms
• Fluticasone Propionate improves lung function and prevents exacerbations

Dosage

• Recommended dosage for adults and adolescents 12 years and older
• Recommended dosage for children (4-12 years)
• Dosage for adult and adolescent (12 years and older) with asthma
• Dosage for pediatric patients (4 to 11 years)
• Maxhaler dosage for adults, adolescents, and children
• Dosage for COPD patients

Interaction

• Avoidance of non-selective and selective β-blockers in patients with asthma
• Potential interaction with strong CYP3A4 inhibitors

Contraindications

• Contraindicated in patients with hypersensitivity to salmeterol xinafoate or fluticasone propionate
• Contraindicated in the primary treatment of status asthmaticus or other acute episodes of asthma
