Indications

Description

  • GTN sublingual spray
  • Metered dose spray
  • Contains GTN (400 mcg per spray, 200 metered sprays)
  • Delivers GTN in the form of spray droplets under the tongue

Pharmacology

  • Acts as a vasodilator
  • Relaxes vascular smooth muscle
  • Affects both arteries and veins

Dosage

  • 1-2 metered sprays at onset of attack
  • No more than 3 metered sprays within 15 minutes
  • Prophylactic use 5-10 minutes prior to potential attack

Administration

  • Carry product at all times for angina patients
  • Not for routine use
  • Avoid alcoholic beverages after administration
  • Avoid sildenafil, vardenafil, or tadalafil while using the product
  • Keep away from children
  • Instructions for usage under the tongue

Interaction

  • Severe hypotension and collapse with alcohol use
  • Enhanced bioavailability of dihydroergotamine with oral GTN
  • Possible orthostatic hypotension when combined with certain medications

Contraindications

  • Hypersensitivity to nitrates or any constituents
  • Various medical conditions
  • Concomitant administration of phosphodiesterase inhibitors
